He has made dozens of technical presentations including internationally on behalf of the federal and provincial governments and has participated in international trade missions and advised the Canadian government on environmental capabilities and personnel issues including First Nations.
Bill was the Executive Director of the Environmental Operators Certification Programme (EOCP), the British Columbia organization responsible for all certification of operators as well as CEU accreditation, and sat on the ABC Board.
BIOGRAPHY | Dr. Bill Hyslop
Bill is an environmental scientist with over forty years of experience in environmental issues. He has trained hundreds of water and wastewater operators and undergraduate and graduate student engineers and is a recognized expert in water and wastewater quality investigations and treatment design and operation. He graduated from the University of Victoria with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and Mathematics and worked for the Canadian federal government in water pollution research before returning to the university to complete a Ph.D. in Environmental Chemistry.
For the past 35 years he has worked as a water and wastewater operations specialist including commissioning and start-up of systems and on-site training of operators, primarily in British Columbia and Alberta. He has also done project work across the Canadian arctic, throughout Asia including China and Russia, spent a year and a half in the desert area of Mexico, and has worked in the Caribbean.
